We recently moved into an older home with Steam Radiators. How do you control the heat most efficiently?

Assuming that they are one pipe steam radiators,the only way to control them is to use adjustable air vents and use a higher setting for rooms distant from the boiler or that heat slowly, and a lower setting for those close to the boiler or which heat quickly. You will have to keep adjusting them until you reach a point where all the rooms heat in about the same time. Do not shut down the radiator control valves since that can trap condensate and cause banging. : We recently moved into an older home with Steam Radiators.
