Five years ago when we moved into our new home we had the radon protection installed. This included sealing the sump pit with a plexiglass lid.Today with the heavy rains from hurricane Floyd my basement flooded. Prior to this I have not had one drop of water in my basement in five years. So, I got lucky and got a sump pump (had to wait on line with a number) put it in and finally my basement is not under water. When I look in the pit now it is lined with some type of plastic, has three large holes and two small holes below the three large holes. There is water pouring out of the two small holes. Is water suppose to run out of these two holes into the pit ?Why did this only happen with todays heavy rains, it has rained hard before, however not quite like the tropical monsson we had today.Thanks.
