well water

The last few months our water has developed an awful smell — mostly noticed in the hot water. We are experiencing a drought in the area and wonder if the level of the water in the ground is affecting our well/water. The cold water seems fine – no smell, tea brews clear not cloudy, water is clear, ice and/or cold water has no taste, but hot water (from a new water heater) smells AWFUL! Thanks for your help
