Installing well pump

I am installing a shallow water well . Can you tell me how far from the pump should the check valve be located. The well is little over 20 feet. 1 1/4 pipe.

The distance is immaterial, although the ideal spot is as a foot valve at the bottom of the pipe. Also,if the well is deep enough the drop pipe should be at least 30 long to eliminate the possibility of sucking air and losing its prime. : I am installing a shallow water well .
