codes for hot water heater

we are having our house repiped next week. We are putting our hotwater heater outside in an outdoor waterheater enclosure beforehand so the plumbers can hook it up. The instructions that came with the enclosure said to put it on a 3 slab but we dont know if this is up to code. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Nancy

NancyWhich Code body are you referring to? American Society Of Mechanical Section IV? (ASME) The American Gas Association (AGA)? Are you asking about Your local code OR the National code Or your State code? Did you mean the American Concrete Institute (ACI) code regarding Gas fired appliances cement bases (floor thicknesses)? I think you had better contact YOUR LOCAL building department and GET something in writing.
