How long is the pipe from the top of the shower flange to the top of the water in the p-trap? If more than a foot or close to a foot you might be getting a smell from the soap and shampoo you are using , what happens is this stuff builds up on the inside of the pipe and starts to rot (or smell very bad the thing to do is try to shorten the pipe or pour about a cup of bleach down the drain once a week this will eventually get rid of the smell but if you stop pouring the bleach down the smell will come back. The same thing happens in the lav. overflow drain a nasty smell comes out of the drain because of all the toothpaste, natural body oils, shaving cream, and other things put down the drain.: the shower smells like a super cause of bad breath.Ive changed the p-trape ran a new vent. had the water tested it was not the water.please help with what to do next

Dear Leo,One cost effective way to solve the problem is to target the source of the problem by treating your drain line regularly (60 – 120ml; 2 – 3 times a week) by using Bacteria Concepts DB-X100.DB-X100 contains safe bacteria that degrades any organic waste build-up present in your drain lines. Thus, the source of the bad odor will be removed, and you keep your drain lines free-flowing. DB-X100 can also be similarly used for your bathroom sinks, kitchen sinks, etc. DB-X100 is non-caustic and non-toxic, does not produce toxic fumes when used, is safe to handle and will not damage any pipes or fixtures. The bacteria in DB-X100 can also help to complement the bacteria already found in the septic tank.If you do have any septic problems, you have the option of using Bacteria Concepts SEPTI-MATE and SEPTI-SHOCK regularly. When used on a regular basis, these products help to greatly reduce or eliminate bad odors from the septic tank, slows down the sludge build-up process, maintains proper biological activity of the septic tank and where applicable, keeps leach fields free-flowing.We encourage you to contact us to order some product to solve the problem. You will also received detailed instructions on how to use the product to solve any problems you may be facing.Bacteria Concepts manufactures the highest quality bacterial products on the market.
