I have a two handle tub faucet that is dripping water out of the outlet for the tub. They are Standard faucets (REAL old). They look like the main body of the stem and outer tube are recessed in the wall and then ceramic tile over that. I got the handles off and chiped tile around them but I dont see a packing nut. It looks like there is a recessed ring (ie., washer like} recessed in the wall around the copper tube that the stem is in. I cant get the ring out to see if there is a packing nut behind it. I dont know where to go from here. Im afraid to try and twist the stem out. The faucets are about 30 years old. HELP!!!

We repair thousands of american standard faucets a year and with a little more discription I can e-mail you the complete parts breakdown and tell you exactly how to remove the stems.
