Clogged Garbage Disposal

Initially the disposal ground up contents, but the water wouldnt drain out. Now it just runs, swirling the water aound and around.Ive tried using a plunger but it just forces the water up and out through the overflow gizmo on top of the sink. What can I do?

Ruth: Your k/sink is stopped up!!! If you have a double sink and the other side drains fine the stoppage is right in the pipes under your sink. If that is the case, look at the pipe assembly under sink and trace the path of water flow from side that drains. Now trace the path from the disposal side to the good-draining pipe. You can quickly see where the stoppage is. If youre incapable of fixing problem once you know where stoppage is call a drain cleaning company. This is a very simple job and my company would charge $40 for entire job. Using that price as a comparison get on the phone and call. Get a firm price quote over the phone!!! Do not allow anyone to do work who will not give you a quote. I cant emphasize how simple this repair should be. Good luck.
