Ron: Most disposals are very close in performance and can safely be judged by cost, as price goes up HP increases and noise decreases. I have always bought In-Sink-Erator brand disposals for ease of installation. An In-Sink-Erator Badger V disposal costs approx. $50 at Home Depot, has 1/2 HP and installs very easily & should last 10+ years. Yes they cost more, but have a great warrenty and have been trouble free
