I have recently removed my old toilet ,installed new vinyl, and I’m inthe process of reinstalling a new toilet. It appears that there is a lead flange fully intact approximately 3/8’s to 1/2 of an inch above the floors surface. Is this Ok or is there something else I need to do. My previous toilet had the mounting screws coming up through the floor. Should I re-drill the holes up from the basement put in new bolts then re-install the toilet with a neo-prene wax ring? I would greatly appreciate any response. Thanks!

A qualified professional would install a quick-set flange that attaches to the lead closet pipe. The toilet would mount directly to this flange with water closet bolts.
