We recently purchased a cottage with a new septic system (installed in fall of 1998). However, we are experiencing odors inside the house that we attribute to the septic. We are in the process of contacting the contractor who installed the system. Other than the odor the drains are working fine. We were wondering what may cause this problem. Is this common with a new system?

Have you had the tank cleaned out since you moved in??? Most tanks I am aware of do require regular mantinance……I sugest once every two years for two or less people and once a year for 3 to 6 people…..
