Bad toilet seal?

  Ive discovered that my toilet has a small leak at the base of the unit. It only leaks when its flushed. My question is two-fold. Its obvious that the seal maybe bad, so what kind of seal works best, and is this something that I can do on my own, or do I need to call a professional. Thanks!
