I have a Reliance Sta-Kleen Model 805 (50 gal. electric water heater) bought about 4 years ago. Recently Ive found corrosion (calcium-like deposit) around the area where hot and cold water pipe connected to the tank. Is it a problem? I can brush them off, but they come right back… Thank you for your advice in advance.

Jon, This sounds like a classic case of small leaks on your connections. It is caused when the water from the leak evaporates and leaves a buildup of calcium. The only cure is to fix the leaks. I am quite sure the local plumber could put your mind at ease.
