My basement has flooded for the last three days even though its not raining…I extract the water (1inch over 2/3 of basement) only to have it return. My sump pump is humming and when I push the plunger down it pops back up…the fuse works. I am still waiting for a plumber so is there anything I can do to prevent more water coming in? I dont know how old the sump pump is…Ive never had a problem in the last 2 years Ive been here. It did seem to become very noisy though a couple of months ago. I think it would be the pedestal type…thanks
