Ejector Pump runs continuously

uI have a Hydromatic SP40 Submersible Ejector Pump. In spite of the fact that I’ve got it plugged into the piggyback switch, it runs continuously. It is used for my basement laundry room sewage only. I’ve hosed out the sump to make sure that there is no garbage or blockage. I’ve removed and checked the check valve. It look fine, no blockage.

Any ideas?

1) float switch may be inoperative 2) check valve is defective or 3) float is stuck in the open position
