As I flushed the toilet and began washing my hands I watched the the inkpen jump off of the counter, bounce off the rim of the toilet before landing in the bottem of the toilet just as the thrust of the flush pushed it into the unreachable area. I have tried plunger and snake to no avail. A tool muck like surgeons use for arthroscopic surgery would be great. Is there a tool like that that could be rented – or should I just go get another wax ring and try geting at it from the other end?

I have removed such objects with a toilet auger or if it doesnt come up the auger usually will break it into pieces.

Had this problem with a toothbrush recently. Removing it and turning it upside down should dislodge it, give it help with a wire coat hangar, or auger after you turn it upside down.
