baseboard ticking noise

        I’ve recently had a new oil burner installed. Hot water heat. After the baseboard lines were bled of air some the baseboard units are ticking. They onlytick when the thermostat calls for heat. As soon as I turn down the stat the ticking nose stops.WHY. what needs to be done. There seem to be relief valves at the ticking locations.

          Welcome to the wonderful world of coefficient of per degree per inch of expansion.

          These creaking noises are from the aluminum fins moving along the base they are sitting on.

          These valves you are talking about sound like bleeder valves to manually remove air.

          You could try to lower the boiler temperature Or try to have the temperature not have a high Delta (Supply and return temperature)
