I have a Reliance hot water heater. On an occasional basis I find a a fair amount of water around it. I cant determine where it is coming from however It seems as if it woul be the pressure relieve valve dumping water as I see no other constant leaking. Would the pressure relieve valve be dumping water on a periodic basis and for what reason? Or should I look for the mysterious water some place else.Bret

SOMETIMES THE T&P WILL TRIP ON AND OFF BUT IT IS NOT LIKELY. IF THE T&P VALVE WAS LEAKING IT WILL USUALLY RUN NON STOP. YOUR SHOULD PULL THE COVER OFF THE BURNER AND TAKE A FLASH LIGHT LOOK UP AT THE TANK AND SEE IF YOU SEE WATER SLOWING DRIPPING. YOU CAN ALSO FIND OUT IF THE T&P VALVE IS LEAKING BY PLACEING A BOWL UNDER THE T&P DRAIN LINE IF IT FILLS WITH WATER YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS.. IF IT IS YOUR T&P VALVE IT IS EASY TO REPLACE, YOU WILL NOT EVEN HAVE TO DRAIN THE WATER HEATER…GOOD LUCK YOUR FRIEND THE PIPEXPERT
