My 10 year old electric hot water tank has started leaking. The first time was about 3 weeks ago and only left a small amount of water on the floor. Today there is a fair amount of water on the floor and it isn’t stopping. It looks like it’s leaking from underneath. Any thoughts?

Also check your water heater labels. There should be one label which either states the warranty period or the date the warranty expires.

It may state one year, five years, or ten years. If your ten year old water heater is actually not quite ten years old and you have a ten year warranty, you may be covered (unless the warranty is prorated and then you are still stuck for it).
