I would like to know if it is possible to take out a sink and put a washing machine in. If the sink pipe is 1.5, is that big enough for a washing machine? I have been trying to find a code book. If you can help me, please e-mail me at [email protected] Thank you!!!!

NO, a 2in. line would be minimum, I would check with a licensed plumber for this work. If the drains are not properly installed you could have a lot of problems.

new construction calls for 2 inch drains for washers but most older homes have 1 1/2 inch drains. If it doesnt back up then it works. you wont know unless you try.
