We are laying new flooring and have discovered rusted, broken toilet flange. Have purchased new flange, but am unsure how to remove old flange. Old flange is rusted and it is unclear where it starts and ends. How should old flange be removed?

If it is cast iron, break it off. If it is plastic pipe with a metal flange then your safest option is to get a new two piece flange and bolt it around the pipe.
