High pitched noise

  When we flush the 2nd floor toilet, a high pitched whining is heard from the basement….what would the cause of this be ?

  Do you have a water softener? If so, change it to the bypass position and see if the noise stops. If so, have the softener serviced.: When we flush the 2nd floor toilet, a high pitched whining is heard from the basement….what would the cause of this be ?
