Remove the screws from the faceplate and flip the lever to the closed position. Let the drain fitting go all the way to the bottom of the overflow pipe, and then see if you cna reinstall the screws without moving the plate. If not, then adjust the mechanism down until you can install the screws with the unit all the way at the bottom.: I recently installed an American Standard bathtub. : I followed carefully all of the instructions when hooking : up the internal drain mechanism, but it still doesnt : hold the water well enough for a bath.: Any suggestions?: Thanks!!!: Oreet

I have the opposite problem – a drain that wont stay OPEN when you flip it up. Is there something wrong with the little spring on the level just on inside of the plate? Or is the rod attached to the metal cylinder plug broken? Can somebody direct me to a site that might have a graphic showing how the darn thing is supposed to work to stay open?thanks!: : I recently installed an American Standard bathtub. : : I followed carefully all of the instructions when hooking : : up the internal drain mechanism, but it still doesnt : : hold the water well enough for a bath.: : Any suggestions?: : Thanks!!!: : Oreet
