In attempting to replace a shower body, I will be attempting my first-time pipe soldering job. Is there any play in the pipes, so that when I heat up the joints to remove one pipe, the other pipes can be moved out of the way? Or do I have to heat up all the joints and remove all pipes at once?Thank you.

There is no way to heat all the joints at once. You will have to do them one at a time, and there is no way to tell if there is play in the pipes without seeing the installation. You will just have to heat the connection and see if it will come apart.: In attempting to replace a shower body, I will be attempting my first-time pipe soldering job. Are you replacing the the shower combination ??? If so, cut the pipes about 3 inches down from the combination……. remove the pipe work….. ENSURE THERE IS NO FAMABLE MATERIAL HIDDEN IN THE WALL !!!!…better still use two comresion fittings to reconnect the pipe, no chance of burning your house downDISCLAIMERAll advice is given with-out seeing the job, and hence all advice MUST be taken as advice with limited knowledge on the exact situation. NO responsibility can or will be taken. And yes, I am a licensed plumber with my own business in Brisbane Australia
