PAX water pipes?

        Can you tell us anything about Pax water pipes – about their reliability and safety?

          Dear Madam Pastel: The piping material to which you made reference is HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene). There are several Tradenames such as Pex,Wirsbro, Allied Quest and Flexol on the market.
          At this writing, it is getting good reviews, and is rapidly filling the market share that copper once had.
          HDPE is not metallic and is suseptible to failure from rodent damage in exposed areas. HDPE cannot be used in areas where direct sunshine can degrade it.
          Most HDPE is used in slab on grade homes and for radiant heating applications.
          Be sure to get all the facts on the strengths and weaknesses on this relatively newcomer to the plumbing Industry…before making up your mind.
