Ray:–Phosphate crystal feeders are generally used to control formation and accumulations of Calcium/Magnesium Carbonates on the inner surfaces of your piping system. This occurs to a greater extent with Iron or Galvanized steel piping than with Copper. The Cathodic protection process such as used in the Copper Knight type application offers the best protection against internal corrosion sites, and prevention of leaching of heavy metals from soldered joints and brass valves and fixtures. …Akmed…

Ray, I am a local water treatment dealer you can contact for local advice. Send me eMail and I wll give you my business name and phone number. Phosphate does not work well unless water runs almost constantly (like a city supply). The Phosphate is too dense to coat the pipes evenly, it just runs to the bottom of the pipe. A Crushed limestone filter works best. The pH should be tested on-site, not at a store. The pH reading goes up when you leave the house (like soda goes flat) and transport it somewhere. Just a guess, do you live in the town of sussex on town water, or in Lake Neepaulin? Roger
