Every time the toilet flushes, when the water stops, there is a bang coming from the pipes. How can I stop the banging? do I need to put some type of expansion tank on the water pipe coming in to my house? (I have city water)

Mike:–I have consulted my Tarot Cards and see that you have a Fluidmaster ballcock installed in the tank. For peace and serenity in the little room, I recommend a change be made inside the tank by installing a standard (OEM) ballcock. It is said that Silence is Golden..Akmed

: Every time the toilet flushes, when the water stops, there is a bang coming from the pipes. How can I stop the banging? do I need to put some type of expansion tank on the water pipe coming in to my house? (I have city water)The banging is a jumper valve moving around as the cistern stops fast. This is caused by a tap that remains open all the time letting the washer move……So, turn off the taps to your washing machine, flush the loo, did it still bang? if no see below, if it did tunr off the taps to the dishwasher, flush again, repeat through all open taps (dishawasher, washing machine, hot water system, external sprinkler systems) until you find the culprit.Get a brass stemed jumper valve, turn off the water, remove tap, remove old washer, use two hammers to slightly flaten stem of brass washer till you have to hammer the jumper into the tap body, fit it all back together. test DISCLAIMERAll advice is given with-out seeing the job, and hence all advice MUST be taken as advice with limited knowledge on the exact situation. NO responsibility can or will be taken. And yes, I am a licensed plumber with my own business in Brisbane Australia

I have just commenced my new position as a tiolet attendant in a busy indian restaurant. I would appreciate advice regarding the number of daily blockages. Should I use industrial chemicals to aleviate the problem or stick to the traditional plunger?
