The previous owners of our house obviously used an abrasive cleanser on the fiberglass tub/shower combos resulting in small shallow scratches which hold dirt. I really would like to fix this on my own. Is there a way?

Check with the manufacturer, but i have seen people use a light car cut and polish. But check with the manufacturer first

Just like finishing auto paint. use a buffing wheel and some quality buffing compound. make sure you move the buffer around Do Not buff in an area for too long, it will burn the finish
