Should a bathtub be filled up over the overflow drain? I thought that, over time, this causes damage the floors and that the water level should not go over the drain. I am told this is not correct.

: Should a bathtub be filled up over the overflow drain? I thought that, over time, this causes damage the floors and that the water level should not go over the drain. I am told this is not correct. If the overflow is installed correctly, the water is piped back into the tub drain and not on to the floor.
