I have a heating system which has been converted from a gravity fed hot water and pumped central heating to a fully pumped system. All the radiators have thermo-valves and if there is a flow through several of the downstairs ones, when the room stat shuts of the central heating, the diverter valve switching over to hot water only (which is still on and being pumped) causes a bang noise. The pump is set at minimum flow. The pipework from the main flow and return to the radiators is 8mm flexible pipe. Sometimes when the system is on hot water only and the central heating is off, one of the radiators gets a little warm. Are these problems related? Is there too much pressure in the system caused by 8mm piping? Is there an easy fix for this?
