Recently, there is a banging noise in the water pipe every time I turn the water tap on or off in my house. It happens to all hot and cold water taps in the house. I saw a shock absorbing equipment for water pipe displayed at the local plumbing store. Is that the equipment I need to install in my water pipe system? local plumbing stroe

Leslie:—Could it be that all that needs to be done is to check your main water valve that supplies your home. Sometimes if they are not fully opened, they can make a terrible racket (like a machine gun). Its because of a loose washer thats starts to vibrate between the seat and the stem of the valve. Try opening all the valves fully to all the appliances including the main that feeds your home. Lots of luck..Bud
