I am replacing the bottom element in my 1 1/2 year old electric hot water heater because the ceramic /screw connection has corroded and the red wire is no longer connected. Ques: Do I need to use a RHEEM part or are there generic parts available at the local hardware stores. I havent done this type of work before…I also haven,t even finished paying for the tank..does this sound like a car or what???

But if the heater is new it should be under warranty. I have installed thousands of heaters and maybe Iam stupid but I stand behind what I sell . So if you are still paying it off than check your warranty. If you want to do it yourself than its not to hard. Turn the power off and drain water from heater. Remove wires and remove but nut on element. It will side out and reinstall the same way. Hey, when you buy your element get a element tool , it makes the job easy. Best of luck
