I think have a problem with a hot water tank that we recently replaced. It is an electric unit that was purchased from Sears. There is an odor of sulphur (?) that was not present before it was replaced. When you run the water for a while the odor goes away. There is also air in the line when you first turn on the water. Both of these problems occur only in the hot water, not the cold. Any ideas? Solutions? Thanks in advance, Mark

Solutions? : Thanks in advance, Mark :You probably have a magnesium anode rod in the water heater. It is reacting with the sulfides in the water. You can replace it with an aluminum one or just take it out. It is usually located at the top of the unit. The rod is about 4 ft long. You should shut off elect. to the water heater and drain it. You may have to tip it on its side to get the rod out if there is not enough ceiling clearance.

Have been searching all over for some information on odors from our taps. We are on a well system, have have copper pipes, house is 15 years old.We have lived in the house for 13 months now, and the water odors are getting stronger and stronger. I read your response concerning the hot water magnesium anode rod, however the odor is apparent both in hot and cold water. Plus it doesnt go away if I run the water. Thanks in for your help?!?!?!
