My home has a cold water pipe that vibrates when two or more fixtures are being used. Can you tell me what causes this and how to fix it? Someone told me it was air in the pipes.

Check your piping for excessive runs without proper supports.

A lot of BUMS use band iron in lieu of the better clevis hangers for horiziontal runs and never follow the proper lenth between hangers.

          Check your lines 1st

2nd make sure someone didnt partically close a gate valve and try to use it for throttling.

3rd Try to find out your incoming pressure and the size of your piping send me an E mail and ILL give you your velocity WHICH maybe too high.

Check your faucets for a loose washer or seat

Think about installing a shock asorber (approved type of air chamber) as you cant compress water But you can compress air and this cushion would take up for shock waves

Try your washing machine/ dishwasher to see if they also cause this kind of vibration

          Good Luck

Dont stick a hammer arestor on the system straight away, most hammers can be located and silenced with a bit of noisying around.
