toliet draing into bathtub/toliet overflowing

Kitchen sink started gurgling than water wouldnt drain properly. Than toliet overflowed and started draining into bathtub. Now kitchen sink seems to be alright, but toilet is draing into tub. What is causing this?

What is causing this?In the uk we call this induced and self siphonage. Its caused by connecting small drain pipes together instead of leading them individually to the main discharge pipe, it sounds like your bath drain pipe has been linked to the toilet drain at a point close to the bath. As soon as you flush the toilet the water/sewage will rise in the bath as the liquid tries to find its own level. The gurgling sound at your kitchen sink is air being drawn into the sink waste (also removing the water from the trap). In addition to the obvious foul water in the bath there is also danger from the drain gases which can enter your home from traps which are left without a proper water seal. If you cant fix this yourself you should seek professional help as soon as possible….. good luck…..john
