David- I dont think pricing is the answer. The solution has to come from the governing authorities to require licensed, bonded and insured plumbers. They then have to enforce it by requiring permits and inspections.

How would you enforce it? The customer would find a way to locate the underpriced plumber and all the Tinker Jack Leg would have to do is charge that price and then he would be making more money per job. There will always be customers who believe that if a person is doing work on the side, it is a bargain. In my area the unlicensed people advertise in the papers and state that they are unlicensed, uninsured, and unbonded, but the Registrar of Contractors only goes after the complaints against the legitimate contractor because it has control over them.: DO YOU THINK THERE SHOULD BE A MINIMUM HOURLY RATE FOR ALL PLUMBERS TO KEEP OUT THE BACKYARD PLUMBERS ?
