How much space should there be between the wall and the tank on a finished toilet installation? I had flange bolts that were 15″ from the wall so ordered a 14″ rough-in toilet figuring I might then have 1 1/4 -1 /1/2″ gap when I was done. I ended up with a 3 1/2″ gap and am thinking they didn’t deliver what I ordered in the first place. It just seems “too far” away. Any thoughts?

Toilet ruffing off finished wall to center of of the floor flange.
Toilets with tanks come in 10″ 12″ and 14″ rough.
Some manufacturers use the same bowl BUT a different tank for getting this measurement.
This could be the problem Double of a wrong tank delivered Good luck
