My house has 3 zones. Half is double loop (with 1&1quarter in pipe in basement) with radiaters, the rest with baseboard. I say, Im wasting a lot of money because of the big loop pipe in base. Why heat the base? I want to put all baseboard in. My wife likes the radiaters. Is the baseboard better? More efficiant? Whos right?

The radiator zone has more water in it, so it should get hot and then not have to run for a while until the radiators cool off. The radiators are independent so you can shut one off without disturbing the rest of the system. The baseboard system has to run more often because it has less water, the units are connected so that the water from one feeds the next. This means that the water has to circulate fster and hotter so that it still has temperature when it reaches the last unit.As you can see, when you try to compare the two, it is like apples and oranges. And because of the differences in the two systems, I am surprised that both of them worked properly, if in fact they did. : My house has 3 zones.
