Trying to replace kitchen faucet, but having trouble removing the 6 or 8 sided nut from the hollow tube that the water lines go thru to bottom of faucet. (Faucet is 22 years old) Seems to be some gunk build-up on nut. Have basin wrench but can’t break nut loose. [Edited by Terry on 20 August 2000]
Sounds like the service nut you are talking about, if you have copper tube in the cupboard. Cut the tube where you have some space and use a couple of compression unions and a short piece of pipe to connect to the new combination
