I am replacing my 30 yr old single handle shower valve because it is difficult to turn off (it springs back). I have removed the locking clip and tried tapping but I still cannot get the cartridge out. Is there a way to loosen the cartridge from the housing? WD-40?
With the proper tools, it usually takes about 45 seconds to remove it. Without them it sometimes cannot be done and the only two valves I have ever had to replace were because the users insisted on trying to remove it and damaged the piece inside the wall.
