I know it is ordinarily required to use black pipe but does galvanized meet code? 27 Sep 1998 at 12:24 am #302903 William Sanders With many codes in the U.S. it is quite legal. In the old days we had to worry about flaking of the zinc but due to better manufacturing processes that is not the case any longer. 27 Sep 1998 at 12:24 am #304343 William Sanders I got into an agument with an electrican about pipe threads. He said that water pipes and electric pipes have the same thread as far as the taper of the thread.
