I was wondering if it is alright to use galvanized fittings with natural gas. I know it is ordinarily required to use black pipe but does galvanized meet code?

With many codes in the U.S. it is quite legal. In the old days we had to worry about flaking of the zinc but due to better manufacturing processes that is not the case any longer.

I got into an agument with an electrican about pipe threads. He said that water pipes and electric pipes have the same thread as far as the taper of the thread.
