IM INSTALLING A PERFORATED PIPE DRAIN TILE AROUND MY CRAWLSPACE TO ELIMINATE WATER PROBLEMS THERE. TYPICAL INSTALLATION CALLS FOR 2 OF GOLF-BALL SIZE ROCK, DRAIN PIPE, MORE ROCK, FILTER FABRIC, SAND, THEN TOP SOIL. IVE SEEN A NEW (NEW TO ME) PRODUCT THAT LOOKS LIKE A SOCK MADE OUT OF THE FILTER PAPER THAT FITS OVER THE DRAIN PIPE AND CLAIMS THAT THE ROCK AND SAND IS NOT NEEDED. WILL THE SOCK ALONE PROVIDE THE SAME LONG- TERM PROTECTION AS THE INSTALLATION WITH THE ROCK, SAND, AND FILTER FABRIC?

Does it look too good to be true? It probably is !! Stick with time tested procedures for a lasting trouble free installation.: IM INSTALLING A PERFORATED PIPE DRAIN TILE AROUND MY : CRAWLSPACE TO ELIMINATE WATER PROBLEMS THERE. : I am having some problems with drainage around my home. I live in a quad level home. When it rains a lot, I have water come down a wall in my basement. I traced the area and it corresponds to the space between my airconditiong unit and the foundation of my home on the outside wall. Also, we live on a slanted lot. There is a slab of concrete just beyond the area I just spoke of and it is always wet, What kinds of things can I do to resolve these water problems? Do I need a French Drain. I am afraid that this will eventually crack my foundation. What are the costs involved? Please help me!!Thanks

JOHN I LIVE IN S.W FLORIDA AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH STANDING WATER IN MY CRAWL SPACE. TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM I RAN 6 PLASTIC TUBING WITH THE DRAIN SOCKS IN SLOPED CHANNELS THAT WE DUG TO RUN INTO A HOLDING TANK WITH A SUBMERSABLE PUMP . WE DID USE A SMALL AMOUNT OF ROCK TO INSURE GOOD FLOW . BUT , THE SYSTEM WORKED GREAT AND THE SOCKS HELD UP WELL . WE PUT OUR SYSTEM UNDER THE HOUSE THOUGH SO IT WASNT NESSECARY TO COMPLETLY COVER THE DRAINS WITH DIRT . ONCE THE SYSTEM CLEARD ITS SELF NO DEBRIS WAS ALLOWED THROUGH THE SOCKS . I HOPE THIS GIVES SOME IDEAS TO COMPLEAT YOUR PROJECT .
