While PVC is user friendly, nothing is better than cast iron for waste and gutters.
One needs skill and foresight to work with material that is a not at all managable. The end result is a job that you can be proud of. Regards price- you pay for what you get
When it comes to cost of plastic as opposed to copper, plastic in GB is dearer. Plumbing in plastic is like a plate of spaghetti if it is not clipped in place at short distances. Copper runs will result in uniform bends that are pleasing to the eye.
