My experience has been that faucets, (and fixtures), purchased from Home Depot and similar stores have a much higher defect rate than the same faucet purchased by a plumber. It is my theory, supported by several distributors, that the HD items are inspected minimally in order to get the low prices and then the customer becomes the final inspector. I think that because a customer bought a Kohler toilet and could not get it to stop leaking. Once the toilet was inverted, the entire trap was not bonded at the sides so water just poured out. Yet Kohler states that they always destroy defective items that they find.
