: : Turn your electricity off to your heater to be on the safe side as siphonage could occur and drain your heater and burn your element out, depending on the material of your water pipe you could do a few simple things; if the pipe is made out of galvanised steel screw a self tapping screw into the hole,you may have to pre drill, if the pipe is copper silver solder the hole or use a compression fitting to fix the leak. These are only temporary measures, before calling your plumber.
