My house is approximately 100 years old and has many of the original radiators. I am in the process of obtaining estimates on replacing the boiler and plumbing and would like to have the radiators repainted at the same time. I have a hot water system with large cast iron radiators. It has been suggested that I have them sandblasted to remove the layers of old paint then spray-painted with a high-temp paint by a professional. Of course, this will require many hours of labor and be quite expensive. Can you tell me if this is the best way to safely refinish the old radiators? Any other suggestions?
