I have an non-working Hoyt copper 40 gal water heater, circa 1950. I’m interested in taking it apart to see how it was made and to recover the copper tank for a project. Does anyone know if the yellow fiber insulation inside a heater of that era is asbestos?
I’m afraid not. Because the material is yellow instead of white, my furnace guy thought it was fiberglass and not asbestos. I would still like to get a definitive answer from someone familiar with water heaters from that era.
Thanks for following up. If I find anything, I’ll post it here.
