I bought my house in 2001. Every fall/winter, I have problems with the toilet backing up into the tub. I called a plumber, who said it was tree roots in the line. He said to flush some root killer & it’d solve the problem. Which it has, until recently. Now all water from kitchen, bath sink & toilet is backing up into tub, & tub is either extremely slow or not draining at all (There was about an inch of water last night, & about the same this morning when I checked). I’m a typical girly girl, so I have little to no handyman abilities. Is there anything I can do on my own, or is it time to call in the big guys? I’m poor too, so I’m hoping someone will tell me it’s cheap & easy to fix.

The only way you can stop it is to have the roots cut out with sewer machone and find the source of the roots, which is usually a tree are a bush.
