Sewer Smell when doing Laundry

The Problem that when we do laundry, a foul sewer smell comes from our basement floor drain.

What can be done to rememedy this problem?

If there is no sound of water movement coming from the drain then I would venture to say that the trap has dried up.

Try pouring some water down the drain and see if this eliminates the problem.
